The
following rides take place on the Toiyabe National Forest. The community
shown in parentheses denotes where the ride originates and returns
indicating a possible need to trailer to the trail head.
Please note that rides with 7 or fewer registered riders may be combined with other rides after June 1, 2008. Some rides require that you transport your own ATV to the point of beginning, others will begin and end at the Walker Community Center in Walker. Also, please note that unless otherwise stated in the ride description, you will need to provide your own sack lunch, water, soda, etc. while on the ride. The list of rides can be found below... Mileage indicated is round trip and approximate. California does require that all vehicles that are operated in public lands must be registered with the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV). The registration fee is $50 per vehicle and is valid for a two year period. Contact the DMV or your local ATV dealer for this permit. Non-Resident Permit: You will need to
purchase a special "Nonresident OHV Permit" if you are not a
California resident AND your off-highway vehicle or snowmobile is not
registered in your home state. Your state's plate or sticker must
be clearly visible on the vehicle. To find out where these Nonresident
OHV Permits can be purchased and to get more information on the program,
please contact a local Ranger or contact the OHMVR Division at: |

Smith Valley and towards the Sierra Nevada. Ride down out of the forest
back into the high desert making a stop along the West Walker River at the
